Thomas Lawrence "Tom" Haverkos, 74, of Moores Hill, IN, Passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 in Moores Hill, IN.
He was born June 16, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Son of the late Harry F. Haverkos and the late Alice (nee Cunningham) Haverkos.
He worked as a Construction Supervisor for Messer Construction Company, retiring after over 38 years of service. Tom was an Elder High School Alumni, Cin. OH. He was a member of St Charles Catholic Church, Milan, IN, Knight of Columbus, St. Charles Men's Society. Tom was very active in Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed woodworking and part time farming. Tom had a great sense of humor and loved to help others. He especially loved being with his family. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. He will be missed by family and numerous friends.
Surviving are Wife, Phyllis Haverkos of Moores Hill, IN; Daughters, Trina (Craig) Hetzer of Moores Hill, IN, Dore Haverkos of Cincinnati, OH, Julie (late Michael) Strasemeier of Moores Hill, IN, Aimee (Steve) Hollingsworth of Moores Hill, IN, Sue (Zack) Erhart of Cincinnati, OH; Sons, Thomas (Celeste) Haverkos of Cincinnati, OH, David (Karen) Haverkos of Cincinnati , OH, Peter (Kim) Haverkos of Aurora, IN; Sister, Eileen (nee Haverkos) Pastore (Ray), MD; Grandchildren, Melissa (Doug) Martins, Maria (Ben) Nickell, Kevin, Merry, Mark, May & Kristofer Hetzer, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Joseph & Leah Haverkos, Alexander, Jeremie & Monica Haverkos, Drew, Jason & Katie Strasemeier, Joshua, Nathaniel, Claire, William & Elana Hollingsworth, Ada & Jacob Erhart, Gabe, Abby, Hannah, and Norah Haverkos; Great Granddaughter, Jocelyn May Martins.
He was preceded in death by Siblings: Harry C. (Vivian) Haverkos, Marcella Collins (James), Mary Alice Meyer (Bill), & Ruth Quigley (Bob).
Friends will be received 9:00 - 11:30 AM, Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 203 Fourth St., Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tuesday, at 11:30 am immediately following visitation, with Father Frank Eckstein officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery, Milan, IN.
