Opal R. Snyder, 85, of Dillsboro, IN, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at her home in Moores Hill, IN.

She was born Wednesday, October 21, 1925, in Leslie County, Kentucky, Daughter of the late Gordon Redwine and the late Sealey Caudill Redwine.

She enjoyed a teaching career at Jac-Cen-Del School Corporation, retiring after 25 years of service. Opal enjoyed reading, visiting her favorite gaming boat, playing cross word puzzles, and sports. She was an avid basketball fan, following Bobby Knight and Larry Bird for many years. She was also a fan of the NASCAR Races, and her favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. Opal traveled extensively. She visited several countries including; Australia, Mexico, St. Maarteen, the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland) & France to name a few. One of her proudest achievements was graduating from Hanover College at 55 years of age. Opal's family was her greatest treasure. She realized how very precious time spent with loved ones was in her life. She will be missed by all.

Surviving are Sons, John (Carol) Snyder of Okeechobee, FL, Steve (Gail) Snyder of Versailles, IN, Bill (Missy) Snyder of Aurora, IN; 10 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard A. Snyder, and several siblings.


At the deceased request, private services will be Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Aurora, IN.
