Eloine Laverne Wolker, 93, of Dillsboro, IN, formerly of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 in Dillsboro, IN.

She was born Wednesday, November 14, 1917 in Vevay, Indiana, Daughter of the late Ernest Schoffner and the late Beatrice Curry Schoffner

She was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Aurora , since 1950. She was a former member of Eastern Star. Eloine has lived in the same house for over 65 years. She had many interest during those years, such as her vegetable and flower gardens, canning her garden goodies, taking and collecting pictures, mainly of her children and grandchildren. In her younger years , She enjoyed fishing with husband, Leo Sr. Her favorite pastime was to be with family and friends.

Surviving are Daughter, Laverne Brightwell of Aurora, IN; Son, Leo (Wife, Sandra) Wolker Jr. of Centerville, PA; Grandchildren, Lynetta Stetson, Leann Wolfe, Patrick Wolker, Judy Bourff, Cherie Rinehart, Wally Brightwell & Allison Jones; 14 Great Grandchildren; 7 Gr. Gr. Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Leo Wolker and Sister, Gwendoln Waltz & Brother, Lawry Schoffner.
John Edward Slayback

John Edward Slayback, 74, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 in Lawrenceburg, IN.

He was born Friday, July 16, 1937 in Hamilton, Ohio, Son of the late Charles W. Slayback and the late Marjorie Baker Slayback

He worked for Seagram's Distillery, retiring after over 35 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed watching the deer and other wildlife. John loved to fish, to squirrel and rabbit hunt. He also had a few "Hunting Stories" to go with it. Other interests include an arrowhead collection from his many outdoor excursions.

Surviving are Brothers, Jerry (Late - Charlotte) Slayback of Lawrenceburg, IN, Robert "Bobby" (Cathy) Slayback of Indianapolis, IN, George Russell "Rusty" Slayback of Aurora, IN, Kenneth (Margie) Slayback of Aurora, IN; Several Nieces & Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Siblings Charlene, Wally and Thorney Slayback.

Richard Louis Miller, 81, of Lawrenceburg, IN, passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 in Lawrenceburg, IN.

He was born Thursday, June 12, 1930 in Columbus, OH, Son of the late Wayne Miller and the late Edith ONeal Miller.

He worked as a Director of Industrial Relations for Aramark Multi National Business, retiring after over 28 years of service. Since his retirement Richard worked at the Grand Victoria Casino for the last 11 years.

Surviving are his Wife, Patricia Miller of Lawrenceburg, IN; Sons, David Miller of Clearwater, FL, Daniel Miller of Orlando, FL, Jeffrey Kemp of Cincinnati, OH, David Kemp of Warren, MI, Richard Miller of Brandon, FL & Patrick Miller of Brandon, FL; Daughters, Melanie Powers of Bright, IN, Cindy Miller of Clearwater, FL & Sandy Miller of Clearwater, FL; 6 Grandchildren.
Victor McPeek

Victor McPeek, 56, of Aurora, IN, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 in Aurora, IN.

He was born Sunday, August 21, 1955 in Middletown, OH, Son of Erma Jean Crider Schuman and the late Ronald Lee McPeek.

Victor was the third generation Owner/Operator of Crider Moving & Storage, the family business owned since 1926. He took over the family business from his Uncle Keith Crider in 1994. Prior to that he worked for 22 years at AEP in Lawrenceburg, IN. Victor enjoyed restoring old classic cars and loved his Corvette. He loved music and had a vast music collection. He always enjoyed talking with people and never missed an opportunity to share a good story or joke. His first love was Emma and his family.

Surviving are Wife, Emma McPeek of Aurora, IN; Daughter, Carrie (Jon) Harris of Louisville, KY; Son, Jared McPeek of Aurora, IN; Mother, Erma Jean Crider Schuman of Cincinnati, OH; Sister, Valerie McPeek of Amelia, OH; Brother, Troy (Carolyn) Helmers of Cincinnati, OH; Several Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, one Niece & Many Friends.
Hubert George Neff

Hubert G. Neff, 81, beloved husband of nearly 36 years to Carole Ann (nee Sheers), passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family September 3, 2011.

He was born September 2, 1930 and raised in Aurora, Indiana, son of the late George S. Neff and late Lucile (nee Pfisterer) Neff. Hubert attended St. Mary's Catholic Elementary School in Aurora and rode the train from Aurora to Cincinnati to attend St. Xavier High School. After graduating from St. Xavier High School, Hubert went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Upon returning from Korea, he soon began his career in banking with the First National Bank of Aurora where he excelled in creating its first Installment and Consumer Lending Department. He continued to work in the banking industry for over 36 years attending the University of Wisconsin and graduating from its Graduate School of Banking. He then went on to earn his post-graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin's, Post-Graduate School of Banking. He finished his formal education by attending the Harvard University's, School of Senior Bank Management before retiring as President of the First National Bank of Aurora in 1989.

Through the years, Hubert loved to go hunting and fishing with his sons, family and friends. You could find him driving through town with his hunting beagle companion, Bo. Hubert and Carole Ann enjoyed their travels together with their special retreats to the island of Jamaica and their winter home in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Hubert was very faithful to his Catholic roots and very active in his community where he offered many volunteer hours for the betterment of his community. He rose to be a 3rd Degree life member of Council 2111 of the Knights of Columbus initiated in 1950; a past member of the Aurora Farmers Fair Committee through the Aurora Lions Club; a member of the American Legion Post #231, VFW Post #5312; and the Korean War Veterans.

Hubert was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Helen (nee Peters). Together they had eight surviving children; Mark (Janice) Neff, Amy (Dennis) Ferguson, Angela (Bruce) Brubeck, Matthew Neff, Hubie (Beth) Neff, Lucy (Dale) DiGiovenale, Margaret (Jeff) Wood, Peter Neff; seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Willard J. Neff and brother, Joseph C. Neff with a surviving sister Betty Rose (Gary) Meyer and many nieces and nephews.
