Charles Edward York

Charles Edward York, 88, passed away October 30, 2014. He was born March 8, 1926 in Morrow, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles York and mother, Vina (Moore) York, brother, Harold York, spouse, Jennifer (Richardson) York and long time companion, Juanita Hudson. Charles is survived by one sister, Loretta Spurlock. Charles had no children, but is survived and loved by many nieces and nephews.

Charles grew up in Kings Mills, Ohio, then joined Merchant Marines at the age of 16. He then joined the Army during World War II as a gunner on fighter planes. He was in Okinawa and Saipan. He was awarded six medals including the Bronze Star. After the war, he continued to serve stationed in Austria and Germany.

Charles retired from the Ohio State Highway Department. He loved to read, keep up on current events , sing and play the guitar. He moved to Lawrenceburg in 2012 to be near family.

Services will be at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, November 10, visitation 11 A M. - 12 P. M . with services following 12 P. M. Services will be officiated by Pastor Justin Spurlock, great nephew. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
