Walter Carl "Bus" Morand Sr., 89, of Harrison, OH, formerly of Aurora, IN, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 in Milan, IN.

He was born Saturday, August 6, 1921, Son of the late Walter Carl Morand and the late Lucy Marie Drake Morand.

He served his Country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps as a Staff Sgt. in WWII. Mr. Morand, "Bus" , graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Houghton College, Houghton, NY. He worked as a Lab Technician/Chemist for I & M Power Plant, retiring after over 35 years of service.

Walter recently lost his wife, Frances Marie Downey Morand just three weeks ago, his loving bride of 69 years. He loved the Lord, studied the Bible and was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. He enjoyed repairing radios, TV's and drove & repaired cars, starting at the young age of 8 or 9. Walter had a sweet tooth and was a choc-a-holic. He loved candy, ice cream, cake, often wondering, "Who ate all of his candy?" He loved the Big Band music. He was a simple man, enjoying the simple things of life. "Bus" stuck close to home and especially loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are Son, Walter Morand Jr. of Harrison, OH; Daughter, Gaye (Robert) Caley of Markle, IN; Sister, Terressa Young of Greenville, SC; Grandchildren, Alyssa Morand, Scot Caley & Jessica Broyles; Great- Grandchildren, Mason, Konner, Lynlea, Samuel & Luke; Step-Grandchildren, Robert & Blake Caley, Pamela Smalling & Marla McCracken & 14 Step Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Marie Morand & Brother, Lawrence Drake Morand.


Services

Friends will be received 5:00-8:00 pm, Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, IN.

Services will be held at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 201 West Conwell St., Aurora, IN 47001 on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11:00 am with his grandson, Scot Caley officiating.

Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of local Veterans Service Organizations.
