Melvin L. "Tom" Mix, 80, of Dillsboro, IN, formerly of Aurora, IN, died Monday, April 19, 2010 in Dillsboro, IN.

He was born Wednesday, June 19, 1929 in Aurora, IN, Son of the late Oscar Mix and the late Geneva Hussong Mix.

Melvin & Kathryn were married for 55 years. He was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church and the Men's Group and was Treasurer for several years. He was a Life Member of the Hogan Township Fire Department since 1975 and served as Fire Chief for 25 years.

He worked as a Foreman for Laughery Gravel for 34 years, then name changed to Dravo. He then worked for Dearborn County Highway Department as a Truck Driver for 10 years.

Surviving are Sons, Dennis (Wife-Peggy) Mix of Farmers Retreat, IN, Steven (Wife-Kim) Mix of Dillsboro, IN; Daughter, Debbie (Husband-Jerry) Brockman of Carthage, IN; 5 Grandchildren & 4 Great-Grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his Wife, Kathryn Rose Mix.


Friends will be received 5:00 - 8:00 PM, Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held at Wilmington United Methodist Church, Monday, April 26, 2010 at 11:00 am with Pastor Matt Oelker officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Wilmington Cemetery, Aurora, IN. Wilmington Fire Department will be escorting Mr. Mix to the cemetery in honor of his many years of faithful service to the department and to the community.
