Irma M. Thieman, 91, died March 10, 2009, at Sunrise Cottages, Buffalo, Minnesota. She was born, October 15, 1917, in Aurora, Indiana, to Theophil and Emma (Schiller) Greive, who preceeded her in death. She married Raymond F. Thieman, on August 31, 1938, who died, May 27, 1986. Her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Ann Thieman Gall, and son-in-law, Douglas Gall, preceded her in death. Two siblings, a brother, 2LT. Norvin (Bud) Greive, WWII, (1941), and a sister, Mary Greive Bockstiegel, (2008), who also preceded her in death.
She was a 1935 graduate of Aurora High School and graduated from Ball State Teachers College in 1937. She taught for several years at the Wilmington Grade School, Aurora, IN, and then during the late ‘50s and 60s’ at Immanuel Lutheran School, Seymour, IN. Irma and Ray, then moved to Fargo, ND, and upon retiring moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, and later she moved to Plymouth, MN.
Survivors include a son, Michael R. (Nancy) Thieman, Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Regina Sue Thieman, Kula, Hawaii; and Jane Fay Thieman, Plymouth, MN, and two Grandchildren, Jonathan (Dawn) Thieman, Streamwood, IL, and Jenifer Ray Gall, Detroit Lakes, MN, and a brother, Theophil (Joann) Greive, resides in Copley, OH.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 14, 2009, at St Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church, Plymouth, MN.
A memorial visitation at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, IN, will be held April 10, 2009, Friday afternoon, 4:00pm to 6:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial to St John Lutheran School maintenance program.
Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, 3635 E. Laughery Creek Rd. on Saturday April 11, 2009, time TBA.
