Dennis Raye "Gunny" Kinnett, 56, of Aurora, IN. died Thursday, January 27, 2011 in Aurora, IN.

He was born Monday, November 29, 1954 in Milan, Indiana, Son of the late Louis Earl "Jack" Kinnett and Mary Lou Knigga Carf.

He served his Country in the Marine Corps for 20 years of dedicated service. He worked as the Clerk/Treasurer for the City of Aurora. Dennis took pride in his position managing the city's finances. He was instrumental in modernizing the Utility Company by getting it computerized. He also had his hand in the city purchasing the new fire truck. Dennis was an Insurance Agent with Booher & Taylor for 15 years.

He was a member of Aurora American Legion Post 231, American Veterans Association, 40 et 8, Aurora VFW and Aurora Eagles. He was also a member the Milan Masonic Lodge #31, the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, the Murat Shriners. Dennis loved boating on the Ohio River with friends and family, was an avid golfer, loved to ride around in the convertible listening to The Grascals. He had such a vibrant personality he cared about people and knew everyone. He was involved in his community, and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Surviving are his wife of 14 years, Leslie Ann Kinnett of Aurora, IN; Son, Dennis (Mandy Owens) Kinnett II of Aurora, IN; Daughter, Tonya (Tony Smith) Kinnett of Talking Rock, GA; Step-daughter, Nicole Allen of Aurora, IN; Step-son, Tommy Allen of Moores Hill, Mother, Mary Lou Carf of Aurora, IN; Brothers, Douglas (Jeanne) Kinnett of Dillsboro, IN, Mike Kinnett of Blairsville, GA; Sisters, Darla (Conley) Fleek of Aurora, IN, Geneva (Mike) Choate of Comisky, IN; Grandchildren, Kolby & Arielle Smith and Avery Owens; Dennis will be missed by several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Co-workers and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Louis Earl "Jack" Kinnett.


Services

Friends will be received 4:00 - 9:00 PM, Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana, and 9:30-10:30 am Tuesday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Milan, 7124 North St. Rd. #101 Milan, Indiana, 47031.

Masonic services will be held at 8:00 pm Monday.

Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 10:30 am with Pastor Ron Haseley officiating. Friends and family are invited to lunch in the church hall, following the graveside service.

Interment will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Marine Corps Honor Guard and members of local Veterans Service Organizations.
