Benjamin Robert Holden Jr., 85, of Crescent City, FL, formerly of Aurora, IN, died Friday, September 12, 2008 in Hamilton, OH.

He was born Friday, July 6, 1923 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Son of the late Benjamin R. Holden Sr. and the late Emma Lucille Gehring Holden.

He served his Country as a WWII Veteran serving with the SAW (Signal Air Warning) attached to the Air Force.
 
He was a former member of SPEBSQSA (Barber Shop Quartet Organization), worked for Council on Aging for 2 years, Councilman for Aurora for 12 yrs, Clerk Treasurer under Leon Kelly &  Dick Ullrich.  He was a Lay Minister licensed in the United Church of Christ, a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Aurora, IN & and a member of the United Methodist Church in Georgetown, FL.  He also was a member of Aurora American Legion and the American Legion in Palatka, FL, Aurora VFW & the Moose Lodge in Florida.  He worked as a Key Supervisor for Seagram Distillery, retiring after over 43 years of service.

Surviving are Wife, Dorothy Holden of Crescent City, FL; Daughter, Heather Harper of Hamilton, OH & Crescent City, FL;  3 Grandchildren, Elise (Greg) Lambert, Michael (Diane) Baum, Jamie (JoLee) Chase, & 8 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents and Brother: George Holden.
 


Services

Friends will be received 5:00 - 8:00 PM, Monday, September 15, 2008 at the Rullman Hunger Denney Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held at  the Funeral Home, Tuesday,  at 11:30 am with Rev. Dr. Kim Katterheinrich officiating.  Color Guard Services will be conducted at the funeral home by the Korean War Veterans and the American Veterans.

Interment will follow in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at the convenience of the family.
